Military Decretary's Office, Hong Kong, 30th August, 1876.
In reply to your letter of the 28th inst, I am directed by the Major General Commanding to acquaint you for the information of the Colonial Government that the War Office Telegram transmitted to you on the 27th supersedes ... the order that the Major General has given if it did so it would be a matter concerning the Military alone and not the Colonial liability.
